Bosch, Excellent, as usual. I heard in Germany that their government is distributing a comic book called "Andi" as an attempt to stem the tide of "Islamic extremism" in the youth. I don't think it will work unless they adress Islam for what it is. I don't know how the Muslim population will react to it. If thier clerics stick to the words of Muhammed, they will take it as an insult and raise all kinds of hell, in spite of the efforts of the German government to not offend them. If people are offended, it is because they choose to be. If they are offended it is their own dang fault! I hope that I will be able to see Geert Wilder's film some time in my life.
Thank you, and good point; unless we're willing to see Islam as it really is and stop giving it an unearned benefit of the doubt, we're going to continue losing by not winning. on Geert Wilders film, there's an interesting rumor circulating, Only a rumor, that there Is no film and that the point of it all was to show how the Muslim world would react to the mere prospect of one. Interesting, if true, but Mr. Wilders comes off as too honest to be even seemingly underhanded, we'll see.
Mike,
Appreciate that, and the size of the sketch is 2 inches by 2 and a quarter.
I, too, am pleased by the release and dissemination of Fitna. I am, as we all are, waiting to see the effects of it.
While I'm at it, I just saw Pat Condell's vid Appeasing Islam--I couldn't express my thoughts about the issues better, he--like Wilders--pointedly sums up everthing; he nails it, pins 'em down solid.
Fitna (فتنة) is an Arabic word, generally regarded as very difficult to translate but at the same time is considered to be an all-encompassing word referring to schism, secession, upheaval and anarchy at once.
The definition is longer, citing a historical context for the word, but the above is likely the meaning that Wilders was going for.
Fitna. Man. Seeing those intense images (a few of them again, many are new) makes my stomach churn. Literally I am a mish-mash of raw emotions. Sick, angry, frightened, disgusted, outraged. To think this nonsense, ass-backward mindset still exists in the 21st century...I need a drink.
Well put, Mike, I'm with you. On the flipside of that, I think one of the less obvious dangers during this war is how truly banal this is all getting. How familiar the vileness and brutality of the Muslim world is becoming for us, as we become less and less shocked at the truly shocking. We have to fight our creeping complacency and growing acceptance of the unacceptable.

Great title for a great sketch, Bosch. I love your loose drawings. So much energy to them. What's the original size?

Looks like Wilder Is too honest to have been involved in a ruse, here's his film FITNA, in all its Islamic gory.

I agree, John, Condell's been telling the truth about Islam in a great, honest and funny way, a tough thing to do.
To those who haven't seen it, or even if you have, here's Pat Condell's 'Appeasing Islam'.
UPDATE: the link to FITNA a few posts above has been removed by LiveLeak, but you can watch it here, at the official site for the movie FITNA
What does the word "Fitna" mean by the way? Whats its English translation? Just wondering.

Talk about mental submission , moral retardation and sheer gutlessness all rolled into one.
Were they kidding? That can't be legit.
Those people in the video "apologizing" for Wilder's film aren't submitting. It looks like they are taunting. Look at their mannerisms very carefully.

It took me a moment to realize, that they are being sarcastic

Damien,
I hope you're right, it didn't even cross my mind.
I thought the same thing, especially considering the smirks on their faces. (I like their hats, though.)
