Superhero Babylon on The Infidel #1

‎"....a story that is guaranteed to polarize; Pigman doesn't hold his punches, and Fawstin doesn't hold his tongue. It calls out Islam for what it is, with no PC apologies." More......

THE INFIDEL #1 review by James Hudnall

Comics creator Bosch Fawstin was born into an Albanian-Muslim family and for a good chunk of his youth, didn’t question his faith. Until one day he had an awakening which made him question it all. In his self published "The Infidel", Fawstin works out his feelings about Islam and Jihad in a powerful narrative that pits two brothers with deeply opposing views on the faith and religious fanaticism.
It’s bound to upset some people because, like the fictional hero in the story, it doesn’t pull any punches.

A Review of THE INFIDEL #1

A Liberal reviewer finds he can't dismiss THE INFIDEL

"The Infidel is a comic by Bosch Fawstin that’s been in the works for a number of years. And this week, just as it is to feature on The Daily Show, it’s gone live.
I have mocked this comic book a number of times, on Lying In The Gutters at CBR and recently on Bleeding Cool, as some kind of poorly dashed off, one sided polemic, based on a series of cartoons, posters and teasers by Bosch which have been lazy, repetitive, boring and dull. And I thought the comic book would be just the same.
I was wrong.
I mean it is a polemic. It is bigoted. But its not quite the Jack Chick caricature his promotional work have suggested it is. And artistically, in terms of storytelling, it’s rather accomplished, certainly to what I was expecting."

For new readers of my blog, here's a short description of my story:
THE INFIDEL is about twin brothers Killian Duke and Salaam Duka whose Muslim background comes to the forefront of their lives on 9/11. Killian responds to the atrocity by creating a counter-jihad superhero comic book called PIGMAN, as Salaam fully surrenders to Islam. Pigman's battle against his archenemy SuperJihad is echoed by the escalating conflict between the twins.

Here are some interior panels from The Infidel #1:

THE INFIDEL countdown.....

THE INFIDEL chapter one will be available in digital form by next week. I will give a few updates this week before it hits.

Below is an index card sketch of Pigman. I've been slipping this type of sketch into copies of my book PROPIGANDA: Drawing the Line Against Jihad, but considering my workload, along with getting THE INFIDEL out, as well as being part of a segment on an upcoming TV program, which will likely make a busy schedule even more so, (details to follow) I've decided to discontinue this practice by this coming weekend. So those who have thought about but haven't gotten a copy of ProPiganda yet, this week would be a good time to do so. Also, as added incentive, ProPiganda is the first print appearance of Pigman.

To new blog visitors, THE INFIDEL is my graphic novel, a story about twin brothers whose Muslim background comes to the forefront of their lives on 9/11. One responds by creating a counter-jihad superhero comic book called PIGMAN, as the other fully surrenders to Islam. Pigman's battle against his archenemy SuperJihad is echoed by the escalating conflict between the twins.
