TIME

Not "Hope", not "Change", but TIME. That's what a Romney/Ryan ticket gives us. They buy us time.

"Our alternatives are a Romney-Ryan administration, a slower rate of increase in rights violations, and a great deal of discussion of Rand’s ideas—or four more years of the Nihilist, a faster rate of increase in rights violations, and likely far less discussion of Rand’s ideas." More...

To paraphrase Ayn Rand (who was writing about Nixon & McGovern in '72) : I am not an admirer of Romney . . . but I urge every able-minded voter, of any race, creed, color, age, sex or political party, to vote for him—as a matter of national emergency. This is no longer an issue of choosing the lesser of two commensurate evils. The choice is between a flawed candidate representing Western Civilization—and the perfect candidate of its primordial enemies. If there were some campaign organization called 'Anti-Romneyites for Romney,' it would name my position. The worst thing said about Romney is that he cannot be trusted, which is true: he cannot be trusted to save this country. But one thing is certain: Obama can be trusted to destroy it.

I'm trying to work out where on the continuum of Rand characters Ryan might be. Even though he is probably better than a Peter Keating type, it does feel very much as though he is to play that kind of role, because it seems he is being vouchsafed to carry an idea that is more than he can handle.

We'll definitely find out who he in the moment of truth.
