"When Bin Laden speaks, we have to listen, They have the capability to strike American soil any time they choose." - John O'Neill, 1997
If Frank Warner/Pigman has a real life model, it's FBI agent John O'Neill, at least in his look and in his professional life. He was the one constant, heroic figure in the books I read that dealt with the events leading up to the atrocity of 9/11, two in particular, The Cell and The Man Who Warned America. He was also featured as the main lead in the TV film, The Path To 9/11. O'Neill warned everyone he could about Bin Laden years before anyone knew about him. And incredibly, he retired from the FBI in August of 2001 and then took a position as Director of Security at the Twin Towers weeks before the attacks. He was doing his job on 9/11 and didn't make it out of one of the towers alive. Here's the piece that was posted today (last year) that sparked my drawing: 9/11: Remembering The Man Whose Warnings Were Ignored.
